My husband just looked at the blog and said, “Oh, no new Hobo stories. Depressing.”
Thanks, husband. And here you go.
Our little Hobo is amazing, so amazing, and growing into the most amazing kid I’ve ever seen. How lucky are we?
And yet… she is driving me crazy these days. One minute she is sweet as pie, hugging my leg and leaning in for kisses on the mouth. The next minute she is standing on chairs, smiling a devilish grin and giggling while she waits for me to see her, freak out, and come at her saying “No no! Sit down! We DO NOT stand on CHAIRS!” And while my heart is sinking into my feet watching that precious baby mere seconds from critical head trauma (I’m a pedi ER nurse now, I see the worst everyday so meh) she just giggles, shakes her finger in the air and repeats her brand new favorite word over and over, “No”. And not just “no”, it is never just “no”, it’s “noooooo” in her deep, throaty, beautiful, baby voice. I know it’s not supposed to be but it’s freaking funny man.
And the imaginary devil horns sprout from her head amidst angelic blond curls.
I can’t help it, it’s frustrating in the wrong moments and absolutely hysterical in the right ones. Especially when she’s running after Etta shaking that finger high and yelling “No! Nooooooo no!” I love it. But only because I know there will come a day when I don’t love it anymore, so right now I think it only fair to just enjoy the ride.
So here we go Avelyn, it’s you and me. Together. And I’m in for the long haul. You?

I can’t believe how much of a big girl Avelyn is now. I know it’s said a cabillion times, but where did your baby go? And have I mentioned that I LOVE her curls?! Adorable.
Oh and Tyson’s new catch phrase is, “What the” not followed by anything mind you. Just the two word phrase that makes my head snap faster than a lasso and shriek “DO NOT SAY THAT!” I have no idea where he got it from.
Hey Avelyn looks like a big girl…hmm same with Anvi (my DD) these days.
I caught myself thinking where the small chubby kid went when I saw Anvi sleeping in her crib….
And welcome to the medical community…a.k.a…ability to freak out for every small thing becos you know all……trust me you will get used to this and freak out less in another 3 months…
I have a post in my draft folder about this standing on chairs craziness…if this child causes me a grey hair before I’m 30…
On another note, I think that those precious curls are about to die for, so cute, so innocent.
GOD, she is so cute. I would have to laugh too. Of course, I can say that, because Dave and I are still the only ones at our house who know the word “no.”
HAHA so funny! I bet she sounds so cute saying no all the time and i’m sure she says like she means it.
I am right there with ya with my angel/devil lil girl. Avelyn is growing up so fast and like always beautiful!
I read this theory somewhere that babies in the animal kingdom look like their dads when they’re really little so that the dad will become attached and want to take care of them. And we are animals, so I imagine this is a bit true for humans as well. All of which is to say: I think the kid’s starting to look more like you, or perhaps it’s just these pictures? Which are way cute- chubble legs!
I’ve heard that theory somewhere too. Probably on Nova or some show where 5 seconds after they say it the lion eats the cub. It sounds probable though. And I agree, she looks a little more like me than she used to, which is good for her. Can you imagine a girl Kevin? He’s alright as a dude but as a girl? Ug-lay.
Cute, cute, cute…
I love her little desk and stool – very stylish for her!!
that 2nd picture is hysterical.
i love it!
ahhh!! i have to come back before she grows more. so cute so cute. and quite the snappy little dresser if i may say so.
